Margaret Ament 1948 – 2025

The Mass of Christian Burial for Margaret Ament of Wadena, and formerly of Bluffton, was celebrated at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 28, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Wadena with Father Jean-Claude as celebrant. Burial was in Leaf River Cemetery near Wadena, Minn.
Margaret, age 76, passed away on Oct. 20, 2025, at her home in Wadena, with Vivie Hospice providing compassionate care.
Margaret was born to William “Bill” and Geraldine (Tappe) Skaro on Dec. 4, 1948, at Wesley Hospital in Wadena. She attended District 23 Country School before graduating from Sebeka High School and then completed the bookkeeping course at Wadena Vocational School. Over the years she was known as the friendly employee at the sale barn in Motley, Olson’s Feed Store in Sebeka, and as a teller at the Wadena State Bank. She loved to travel and try new things like ziplining, body surfing and a submarine excursion in Maui, along with helicopter rides. At home her hands were busy quilting and crocheting. With a heart for volunteering, Margaret was a VFW Auxiliary member, on the Leaf River Cemetery board, and was involved with the Catholic Lady’s Circle.
Preceding Margaret in death were her husband, Jerry (2016), and parents, William and Geraldine.
Forever remembering Margaret will be her children: Brian (Kelly)Ament of Vergas, Michele (Vaughn) Smith of Elk River, and Dick (Stephanie) Ament of Lakeville; eight grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren; siblings: Allen (Bernice) Skaro, Ray (Gail) Skaro, Steven (Laurie) Skaro and Bernice (Tom) Pickar; along with a host of extended family members, friends and neighbors.
