Shirley Hamre 1936 – 2025

The memorial service celebrating the life of Shirley Hamre of Wadena will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 27 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wadena. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in Wadena Cemetery.
Shirley Arleen Hamre (Lillquist) entered her heavenly home on Sept. 15, 2025. She was born to Harry and Hilma Lillquist on Aug. 8, 1936. Shirley was raised in Wadena and graduated in 1954. She attended Concordia College in Moorhead for one year to take business courses. She retired from the 1st National Bank after serving 30+ years as teller.
In 1957, she married Byron Hamre and they were married 55 years before he passed away in 2013. They started their life together in Kindred, ND but moved to Wadena in 1959.
Shirley loved being active in church and the community. Family and friends were very dear to her. She is survived by her son Mark (Melissa) Hamre of Oak Grove; daughter Janell (John) Weum of Eden Prairie; grandchildren: Kyle (Chayna) Hamre, Meghan (Tom) Esser, Nicole (Peter) Louie, David (Rebekah) Weum; great grandchildren: Eli, Addison, Jocelyn, Reuben, Judah, Kira, David, Benjamin, Moses, Asa; sister Arlyce (John) Schmit of Rapid City, SD; sisters-in-law: Sonja Lillquist, Clara Hamre, Elaine Olson, and Janet Hamre; brother-in-law Don (Bev) Hamre; and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on Saturday, Sept. 27, 2025, at 11 a.m. with Public Visitation starting at 9:30 a.m. at the Immanuel Lutheran Church of Wadena. Memorials are preferred to Immanuel Luheran Church, 403 2nd St SE, Wadena, MN 56482
