June Tokheim 1934 – 2024

June Carol (Harstad) Tokheim was born June 2, 1934 to Halvor and Gena Harstad in rural Sebeka, Minn. and died September 28, 2024 in Edina, Minn.
June was preceded in death by her parents, Georgene and Halvor Harstad; two brothers: Gene Harstad and Jerry Harstad; a sister, Joan Pierce; and a daughter, Kirsten Wrieden. She is survived by her husband Russell; children: Mark and Karin (Gregg) Meier; grandchildren: Brett (Abby) Wrieden, Brook Wrieden, Garrett Meier and Keynon Meier, and great granddaughter Jade.
June attended grades 1-8 at the District 49 Country School in rural Wadena Co. and graduated from Sebeka High School in 1952. After graduation she went to Yellowstone National Park to work for the summer, which was filled with adventure and memories. She attended airlines training school before going to work for Western Airlines in Los Angeles, CA.
She returned to Minneapolis to work for Scandinavian Airlines, where she did travel arrangements. June was a long-time member of Central Lutheran Church in Minneapolis, where she met Russell. They were married in 1967 and raised their family in South Minneapolis on Emerson Avenue near Lake Harriett.
June enjoyed cooking and baking for her family and friends. She was a detailed seamstress and created numerous sewing and needlework masterpieces. She especially enjoyed making clothing items for family. June and Russell later moved to 7500 York in Edina where she lived until her passing.
Funeral service on October 11 at 11 a.m. at Normandale Lutheran Church, 6100 Normandale Road, Edina MN 55436. Memorials preferred to Ronald McDonald House or Normandale Church Foundation. 10-9pd
