Jeanne Pritchard 1929 – 2024
Our Lord called Jeanne home on Thursday May 23, 2024 at the Green Pine Nursing Home in Menahga, MN at the age of 95.
Born at the Morris Hospital February 10, 1929 and given birth name of Jean Marie to Michael and Ida Galles in Morris, Minnesota changing her name later on in her early years. Jeanne attended St. Mary’s Catholic School in Morris, MN through her sophomore year. In 1945 her family moved to Akeley, MN where Jeanne graduated from Akeley High School in 1947.
After graduating, Jeanne returned to Morris where she worked at JC Penney’s and at the Steven’s County Hospital as an Aide that year of 1947. She then moved back to Akeley, and worked at the Ah-Gwah-Ching TB Sanatorium near Walker, as an Aide where she met her future husband Bob who also worked there. On October 27, 1948 they married in Osage, Bob and Jeanne then moved to Park Rapids, and made their home, this home was blessed with five children, Robert, Jeanette, James, Mary and Stephen.
Jeanne worked at Ringers sewing plant for twenty-two years. After the plant closed she then worked many years at St. Joseph’s Hospital as an Aide then went to work at the Heritage Living Center as an Aide until retiring. Jeanne also did the Living At Home program when it started in Park Rapids.
Jeanne was a member of the First Baptist Church in Park Rapids, since 1969. She served as Sunday School Secretary, Teaching Sunday School, helping with the nursery, release time on Wednesday, bus monitor, Tent meetings, Nursing home Chapel time, working for Bearing Precious Seed Ministry putting scripture of John and Romans together of different languages and sending out where ever needed.
Jeanne enjoyed crocheting, putting puzzles together, reading (especially her Bible), walking Heartland Trail and her trip to the Dominican Republic with her church group from Michigan. She enjoyed time spent with her sister Margaret Ann Galles and of course family gatherings with grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Jeanne is survived by her sons: Robert Pritchard of Osage, and James Pritchard of Loveland, CO; daughters: Jeanette (Steve) Miller of Arivaca, AZ, and Mary (Ben) Stumbo of Park Rapids; sister, Margaret Ann Galles of Park Rapids; grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
Jeanne is preceded in death by her husband Harvey Robert Pritchard; her parents Michael and Ida Galles; son Stephen Pritchard; brother James Galles and baby brother Galles at birth.
Funeral Service will be held at the Cease Funeral Home in Park Rapids, MN July 5, 2024 at 11 a.m.
