Dear Janelle, John, and Mark,
I would have loved to be there with you all to celebrate your mom’s life. I’m glad Cindy and Jeff could make it. So many memories! Our families spent so much time together, especially when we were young. And I was lucky to live with Bob and Verda when I student taught in Minnetonka schools. I remember silly things like Verda’s pasta cooling over the chairs in the kitchen, and Bob giving up Monday Night Football so I could watch Mork & Mindy. Remember all the fun we had playing together? The pool table in Wayzata, outside at your place in Menahga or ours. Our basement full of toys and craziness when the weather wasn’t good, and John and I playing catch, always counting to see how many we could get. We never laughed as much as when you were around.
I’m so glad I got to spend time with Janelle and Verda last summer. We had reconnected with LuAnn and she and I were there on the way back to the cities. A special time. Verda and I texted now and then, and I had updates on everyone, especially the trip you took her on, Mark. Good to hear your voice the day of the service. I hope to connect with you all soon. We’re on our way to Minnesota later this week and will be around for Midsummer (12/13) and my class reunion on the 20th before flying back. If you’re around and feel like coming up, let us know!
I remember when Mom died and I had this feeling of “I’m an orphan now.” So glad you got to keep yours around longer than we did. Miss you, and sending love to you all…
