Pastor Loren Ferch 1951 – 2024

Pastor Loren Allen Ferch, age 73, went home to be with Jesus on April 17, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on February 25, 1951, in Minneapolis, MN, to Loren Richard and Betty Jane (Bender) Ferch, being the third child among four siblings.
At the age of 12, Loren found his lifelong anchor in Christ, a faith that guided him through every chapter of his life. He graduated from Eden Prairie High School in 1969 before pursuing higher education at Oak Hills Christian College in Bemidji, MN, and later at Calvary Bible College in Kansas City, MO, where he graduated in 1974. Furthering his desire to grow in his theological understanding, Loren attended Bethel Theological Seminary in Arden Hills, graduating in 1980.
Loren’s professional journey was marked by unwavering dedication to pastoral ministry. From 1979 to 2021, he served with heartfelt commitment, impacting congregations in Zimmerman, MN, Reedley, CA, and Buffalo, Sebeka, Menahga, Princeton, and Akeley, MN. His retirement in September 2021 marked the end of an impactful career devoted to spreading the teachings of Christ and enriching the lives of those he served. Loren found fulfillment in witnessing the transformative power of Jesus Christ in people’s lives, a sentiment that fueled his passion for ministry.
In his personal life, Loren was blessed with two daughters, Noelle and Katie, from his first marriage. But despite life’s challenges, Loren found love again and married Ann Doreen (Niska) Evans in 2007, sharing over a decade of companionship until his passing. Outside of his ministry, Loren found joy in hobbies such as hunting, fishing, and building. He treasured moments spent with Ann, traveling, and embracing the role of grandparent.
Loren’s adventurous spirit led him to Uganda, Africa, and various destinations across the United States and Canada, including memorable trips to Israel and numerous states. His legacy lives on through his children, Sean Evans of Menahga, MN, Noelle (Lee) Little of Pick City, ND, Josh (Dani) Evans of Osage, MN, Katie (Patrick) Bennett of Cottage Grove, MN, and Beth Etter of Park Rapids, MN. He also leaves behind eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, whose lives he touched with his wisdom, kindness, and unwavering faith.
Loren is preceded in death by his sister Peggy (Klippenes), brother-in-law George Klippenes, mother Betty, and his father Loren Richard.
His memory will be honored and celebrated at a service of remembrance and celebration at Faithbridge Church in Park Rapids, MN, on Tuesday, April 23, 2024 at 11 a.m. with visitation from 9-11 a.m. preceding the service. Inurnment will take place at Bethel Cemetery southeast of Park Rapids, MN, at a later date.
