Marguerite Anderson 1930 – 2024

Marguerite Anderson of Green Pine Acres Nursing Home in Menahga (formerly of Sebeka) passed away on Sunday, April 7, 2024 at the age of 94.
Marguerite was born on April 4, 1930 to Alfred and Marie (Mertz) Solberg in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She graduated from Patrick Henry High in 1948. She started working as a secretary at a law firm and later at King Midas Mill, both in Minneapolis.
She met a farm boy from up north and on May 30, 1959 was married to Howard Anderson, and the big city girl became a small town gal. They made their home on their farm in Red Eye Township and were blessed with three children: Thomas, Mark and Rita.
Mom was very involved in her family, community and church She was the first woman elected to the Sebeka School Board serving for 12 years, and was a School Board Representative with Region 5. She was an active member of our Saviour’s Lutheran Church serving on the building committee, was on the church board for a number of years and was the President of the congregation. Mom belonged to the Red Eye Homemakers, Birthday Club, Red Hats Club and the Quilting Club at church.
Mom loved to travel whether as a young lady with her girlfriends or later in life with their good friends, Paul and Izzy Bosch. If the wheels on the bus were turning, mom was on the ride. Mom was never afraid to take on new challenges, whether it was the wall papering and paint business with her friend Izzy, or her own cleaning business, she was always busy.
Mom loved to cook especially around the holidays and was always trying out “new” dishes and recipes on all of us. Some became family favorites and some were never spoken of again.
Family, faith and community, that’s what mom was all about.
Marguerite was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Rita, husband Howard, sister Barb, brother Charles “Bud” Solberg; sisters-in-law: Louise, Effie, Hazel and Alice, and brother-in-law Carl Anderson.
She is survived by her sons: Thomas (Debbie) of Sauk Centre, Mark (Jan) of Sebeka and granddaughter Stephanie (Michael) Buschette, and great-granddaughter Evelyn of Beaverton, Oregon; sisters-in-law Betty Stelk and Karen Anderson of Minneapolis and Loretta Ehrmantraut of Menahga; and many nieces and nephew.
Funeral services will be held at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Sebeka on Saturday April 20, 2024 at 11 a.m. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. A private interment will be held at a later date at the Village West Cemetery.4-10pd

Not to leave out hostess of many, many Trashing B’s (inner city kid spelling) held st the farm. Heaven has truly welcomed an incredible and amazing woman who always cared for others before herself. Many, many times spent visiting with her. May she rest in peace now and forever.
